Feminism. Noun. Pronounced/
femə, nizem. The advocacy of women’s rights on the grounds of political,
social, and economic equality to men. Marriage, pregnancy, raising children is
it an accomplishment? Or a life requirement? Is it our obligation to achieve
those “goals” or stay a successful virgin at 40 and be judged upon society? Why
is it that we as woman are set these obligations since the day we were born,
being told to learn to be a superb housewife for the perfect future husband!?
We say to girls “You can have
ambition but not too much, you should aim to be successful but not too
successful otherwise you will threaten the man.” Because you are a female I am
expected to make my life choices always keeping in mind that marriage is first.
Why are woman obligated to shut down when men are speaking? Why is that “the
man” is given the power like if he is some kind of god? Why is that men can
cheat and be unconditionally normal to society?
I am utterly tired of woman
being “trained” to please the world. Woman have to get married at a certain
age, be pregnant and raise the children a particular way. If you were caught
being said “ I want to be a mechanic!” shame on her mother for raising her that
way. Being looked down on is normal. Gabrielle Chanel was a strong feminist; she
could care less if she wore black instead of pastel colors. She was frowned
upon about her “short” skirt or her short hair. Why are details like those so
important to the woman figure?
Who’s fault is its? The
traditions we are raised upon, our parents, the movies we watch? Either way I
want to aspire every woman to take action upon this situation. Next time a male
or anyone tells you “You are a girl, you don’t understand.” Or “SHUT UP!”
Please don’t lower your head and gulp your words down. Otherwise get up and
speak your mind. Don’t let a sexist tell you are stupidly wrong. Don’t apologize
for being correct. Women are the queens of themselves, whoever said they needed
a king to run a throne were wrong. You wear that crown because you were born
with it!
“I am a women and what I think,
I must speak.” –Beyoncé
